We'll start with some examples of how easy it is to get started with SageTV Studio and follow that up with some examples of how powerful SageTV Studio is for creating a unique Media Center experience.
SageTV Studio Basics: Simple Menu Customization...
In a few quick steps you can easily customize the SageTV Menu any way you like. For example, let's add a menu item to go directly to the Music menu from the Main Menu. All you need to do is press Ctrl-Alt-F12 to open the SageTV Studio browser (we chose an uncommon key combination just to help people avoid accidentally opening Studio, you can change it to something easy and familiar if you want in the Setup menu) and add a menu item to the Main Menu in 3 easy steps.
Before getting started, make sure you "Save As" your current STV file to a new file named "StudioIntro.stv" or something other than the default SageTV3.stv so you don't accidentally change your default SageTV Studio file.
1. The first step is to open the Main Menu from the alphabetical list of menus in the browser.
2. Now drag a new menu item widget ( )from the widget bar on the left side of the window onto the MainMenuContainer and name it "Music".
3. To finish just select the "Music Jukebox" menu just below the "Main Menu" in the browser and drag it onto the new widget item you created.
The picture on the right shows how the main menu looks after customizing. |
